Build a front-end to a database (currently in Excel format, but can be changed) that allows users to interrogate the data and build custom lists, tables and charts.
Although the database is not large, there is sufficient information in it to allow users to interrogate the data to build their own reports and tables. We need someone who can make a front-end to the database. The front end will have a menu tree structure, that takes users through the steps of selecting the appropriate data to analyse. Once the key fields have been selected, the program should perform the search and present the data to the user in a format that allows him to copy it into their own documents or spreadsheets.
REQUIREMENTS:
. Experience in transactional website development process
. 1-2 years database driven website creation experience
. Good command of English, also to deliver a high quality, professional program within the agreed timeframe.
· The database needs to be locked to prevent the raw data from being altered by the user.
· The front end must look professional, be easy to follow, and must allow for some advertising to be inserted around the work area.
· The whole package will be loaded onto a CD for distribution to paying customers. Ideally, we want the programmer to also set up the program so that the user can only use the program while the CD is in the drive. We want the programmer to insert a key or password protection to prevent the CD from being copied.
· If possible, we would like the option of producing a simple chart according to the data selected by the user. Charting options are not essential, but very desirable.
· The finished program will also be loaded onto the Internet for the same application. This will be done by others.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ensure work is delivered on time and meets our needs
Ensure issues/queries are escalated and resolved in a timely manner
Ability to accurately estimate timeframes and requirements
Be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines
It is a short-term contract.
